In the pre-primary years, learning happens in short, focused bursts - taught in seconds and practiced in small groups of just 3 to 4 children. This structure allows teachers to give individual attention to every child, every day, ensuring that each learner builds a strong and joyful foundation for future learning.
At Lumens, learning is designed to engage every sense — because humans think in pictures, move through rhythm, and remember through emotion.
Flashcards are shown repeatedly in small groups of 3 kids, in seconds through a structured, research-based method consistent across all grades to build vocabulary and strengthen memory. Using visuals, we teach concepts in English, Math, Science, GK, and History , helping children connect ideas naturally. A child who spends 3–4 years with us shows progress often unseen even in older students following traditional methods.
Logical, simple, and fun techniques make Math click — helping children understand it instinctively, not mechanically.
Music, storytelling, and reading are woven into daily learning to build language, general knowledge, Science, creativity, emotional balance, and strong values. Language is actually taught in the sequence L(isten)-S(peak)-R(ead)-W(rite), as recommended in BEd course, which is also the natural learning process
Extensive physical exercises develop both gross and fine motor skills, nurturing coordination, focus, and a lifelong love for sports and fitness.
At Lumens, teaching is never "one size fits all." It's about meeting every child where they are, honouring their natural strengths, and helping them grow with joy, curiosity, and confidence.
From pre-primary to higher secondary, detailed lesson plans are made that use all four aspects of personality and interlink different subjects; making every topic engaging, deeply memorable and making learning approach standard but still individualistic across the classes.
The lesson plans are improved upon every year with the experience of the previous year, bringing in continuous innovation
The reason: each child has a different aptitude – physical, spiritual, intellectual, emotional. We utilise that inclination to make learning easy and joyful.
Every lesson plan follows 3 step process integrating all 4 aspects of QuadSeek so that learning is joyful and lasting:
introducing new words and concepts to bring required threshold of the new lesson.
teaching the lesson with tricks to assimilate and remember.
making sure everyone has the required clarity
Every Lumens classroom is designed to make learning active, personal, and joyful.
Each class has its own mini library and laboratory, stocked with books and tools.
With just 26 students per class, children often work in groups of 3–4, allowing teachers to give each learner focused attention.
Older students mentor younger ones like Grade 4 guiding Grade 3: fostering teamwork, patience, and empathy.
At Lumens, we follow the FDI approach, aligning teaching with a child's natural growth and attention span.
Learning happens in short bursts but frequently (repeatedly) — a few seconds, three times a day — matching young children's limited attention spans and making lessons engaging and playful.
As children mature, lesson duration increases while frequency reduces, helping them focus for longer and build learning stamina.
At this stage, intensity increases, encouraging deeper concentration, discipline, and performance — empowering students to give their best.
This progressive approach ensures that teaching evolves with the learner, not the other way around.
In every classroom — whether at a small-town school or at IIT, IIM, or Harvard — there are students who grasp concepts instantly, some who take a little longer, and others who need more time to build their foundation.
Traditional teaching expects all these learners to progress at the same pace — often leaving one group disengaged or behind.
Move to the library corner to explore advanced or challenging activities
use the lab to understand concepts through practical application.
Groups of 3-4 students ensure every child receives individual attention based on their pace and level of understanding.
This setup allows teacher to work with different groups at different pace and guarantees that every child learns to their fullest potential , in an environment that's inclusive, engaging, and tailor made.
At Lumens, we believe that evaluation should guide learning, not define it.
There are no formal exams until Grade 4. Instead, we use a blend of formative and summative assessments conducted both during and at the end of each unit or term through carefully designed worksheets.
Every child’s progress is tracked in detail across topics. Teachers identify specific areas of difficulty and use this insight to plan lessons and group children with similar learning needs for targeted support. This is possible because our approach allows teaching in smaller, focused groups, ensuring that no child is left behind.
Evaluations include worksheets, surprise tests, and scheduled assessments. Surprise tests serve primarily as feedback tools for teachers, helping them gauge how well each student is absorbing the topic — making it a reflection of teaching effectiveness rather than student pressure. At Lumens, assessment is a pathway to growth, not a judgment.
In prescheduled assessments, children are given all the time they need to complete their work. The goal is to assess understanding, not speed.
Teachers provide guidance as required, and the level of support is recorded using Difficulty Codes (D1–D5):
D1–D5 indicate the amount of help given from light encouragement to step-by-step assistance helping teachers track each child’s independent learning progress
This system ensures that every child’s understanding is accurately measured, while maintaining a supportive and stress-free environment.
From Grade 5, students take 2 Formative Assessments (FA) and 2 Summative Assessments (SA) each year.
Similar to Difficulty Codes in the early years, we use Error Codes to track and standardize learning in each subject:
When a teacher marks a paper, every deduction, even half a mark, is accompanied by the relevant Error Code. This ensures:
This method turns assessments into a transparent, learning-oriented process, not just a grading exercise.
All Difficulty and Error Codes are recorded in our software for every test. This data is analyzed extensively to:
If multiple students make spelling errors, the English teacher adjusts lessons to strengthen spelling alongside the syllabus.
If many children struggle with calculations, the Math teacher may conduct a bridge course to reinforce fundamental concepts.
This data-driven approach ensures teaching is responsive, personalized, and continuously improving — helping every student achieve their full potential.

At Lumens, we believe every child can improve - from top performers to those needing extra support.
Our Step Up classes run for a month or two each year, either during school hours or on Saturdays, in small, level-based groups. Subjects range from Math and Science to Sports and Arts, allowing focused attention on each child’s growth.
These sessions are designed to take students to the next level, helping them strengthen skills, build confidence, and achieve visible progress in a short time. Teachers also love this dedicated period, as it lets them work closely with a few students and see results quickly.
At Lumens, we believe that joyful, stress-free learning leads to excellence.
From June to November, we cover around 80% of the syllabus, leaving 2½ months for experiential, stress-free learning. During this period, children enjoy Sports Day, Annual Day, Fun Fairs, Exhibitions, and most importantly, Clubs.
Our Clubs let children explore a wide range of skills: from storytelling, poetry, and debates to stitching, cooking, travel planning, and science experiments. Students can choose 1–2 clubs of interest, while 1–2 are made compulsory to develop expertise in areas like Science, Math, or Language.
Learning is hands-on and playful
Enjoyment drives engagement
Cover key academic concepts through practical, creative activities
Even without touching textbooks, children often learn more in these months than they do in a conventional year, gaining confidence, creativity, and real-world skills.
To make fitness a lifelong habit for every Lumens student.
At Lumens, every child plays a sport of their choice for one hour each day. While compulsory, enforcement is rarely needed — children naturally love being active.
Twice a week: Strength, stamina, flexibility, and agility training
Three days a week: Practice and play the sport they enjoy most
At Lumens, we believe that great teachers make great learners.
Our hiring and coaching process ensures that every teacher shares our vision and values.
Positivity and care come first
Ready to embrace new ideas and eager to learn innovative teaching methods.

At Lumens, teachers are not just instructors — they are guides, mentors, and role models shaping the future of every child.
We look for stable, educated people with very well defined and simple criteria for teacher selection.
At Lumens, teachers, parents, and students form one team with the same goal: helping every child thrive. As a community, we work and celebrate together through regular parent trainings and fun events, fostering connection, collaboration, and shared joy.
Strong camaraderie among teachers, parents, and students ensures better teamwork and learning outcomes.
Given an appropriate environment and varied exposure, children get Freedom to Learn; which eventually helps them grow into the best of what they are destined to be.
We firmly believe that if we speak to the children as adults and give them choices, they learn to make conscious decisions, which is one of the most important life skills.
Children's views are given equal importance as anyone in the school
Children are repeatedly put through experiences of making choices with reasoning considering pros-n-cons in class, for choosing clubs and sports.
Children are encouraged to ask questions and put forward their requests without fear
At Lumens, teachers build relationships with children as equals and adults from pre-primary.
"Selecting Lumens is their SIP in child's future."
