The Lumens Story - How It All Began

It all started with a spark of curiosity!

At just 3 years old, Agastya astonished his parents by explaining concepts like multiple reflections in mirrors and whirlpools. When they discovered he was learning these through the QuadSeek method at an after-school program, Gautami and Rahul's curiosity deepened.

Their search led them to the Shikshayatan School in Arasavanankadu, Tamil Nadu, run by Aruna and M.R. Raghavan. There, they witnessed something extraordinary: children from disadvantaged backgrounds, once malnourished, speaking fluent English and German, solving Math and Science with ease, and radiating joy and confidence.

Deeply inspired, Gautami and Rahul felt it was their duty to bring this revolutionary method to children everywhere. With the encouragement of Dr. Rajesh Kumar Tiwari, they decided to begin in their hometown, Vapi.

In 2012, Lumens School was born — starting small with an activity centre, a nursery class, and just 20 students. Each year since, the school has grown grade by grade, staying true to its mission: to provide holistic education in the truest sense, shaping children with knowledge, values, and confidence from the very beginning.

Rahul Desai

Co-Founder & Education Visionary

Rahul began his career as a computer engineer, with a deep love for history, music, reading, and movies. After 7 years in the software industry, including a stint in the US, he transitioned into HR, where he worked for over 15 years.

After 3 years of working with young adults, Rahul realized that true transformation must begin much earlier, in the foundational preschool years. This conviction set him on search for an education system that nurtures children right from the start.

Rajesh Kumar Tiwari

Ph.D. in Finance, Education Advisor

With a Ph.D. in Finance (University of North Texas) and a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad, Rajesh brings over 35 years of experience in banking and investment. He has held senior leadership positions in major financial institutions.

He also served as advisor to Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb, a reputed New York-based fund house. Today, Rajesh channels his expertise into entrepreneurship in asset management and school education.

Gautami Desai

Co-Founder & Education Strategist

Gautami holds an MBA in Finance (NMIMS) and a BE in Electronics (Bombay University). With over 18 years of experience in investment, she has managed portfolios worth ₹3,500 crores as a fund manager.

Her expertise earned her the prestigious LIPPER Award for Best Performing Banking Fund. Today, Gautami is passionate about building a system that shapes confident, balanced, and value-driven individuals.
