Welcome Lumens

We are an upcoming CBSE* school from playgroup to std. -12th . Lumens strives to inculcate good quality and creative learning within students from pre-primary, all the way to higher secondary education.
Most of us believe that geniuses are rare, but we at Lumens believe that everyone has a rare kind of genius within them, that's just waiting to be found and unleashed.
We've made it our life's duty to do just that.

We currently have three pre-primary schools – in Vapi (Gunjan), Vapi (Chala) and Daman.
Our main-school building, primary school onwards, is two kms from Vapi town at Namdha. It is a beautiful green campus on the banks of river Damanganga amongst mango trees.

  Our Physical Programme  

“All work and all play, is just another day at Lumens!”

Our five senses are directly dependent on our physical condition. Thus, our physical program helps fine tune these senses from a young age and strengthens - the visual, auditory and tactile pathways of the child from age 2 to 8, during which most neurological development stabilizes. This greatly helps ease the acquirement of abilities like reading, drawing, painting, singing, wood work and swimming.

The mainstay of our physical programme includes –

  • Crawling – to enhance the growth of the pons and reflex organs.
  • Creeping – to enhance the growth of the mid-brain and motor coordination.
  • Brachiating – to enhance growth of lungs for better supply of oxygen.
  • Climbing – to enhance depth perception.
  • Running/ Walking – to enhance clear speech and long sessions of concentrated work.
  • Balance-beam walking – to enhance balance and convergence of vision.

All these activities will instill a high-level of co-ordination and concentration within our students. It will encourage a keen interest in athletics and sports within them, which will be key parts of our physical program for the Primary, Mid-school, Secondary and Higher-Secondary levels of our education.
Our physical programme also helps children that are differently-abled by birth or due to poor nutrition.

This programme provides intellectual stimulation and inculcates reading habits, math-skills, knowledge in science and a widened base of understanding.

The Integrated Learning program -

Language is built through pictures, as pictures are the physical representation of words. Thus, we introduce the world to our children, using plenty of pictures as the primary window.

Based on the idea that all children love advertisements, we begin with a uniquely designed program that showcases more than 300 large sized pictures. We begin with 3 flash-card sessions a day, wherein we show and name 25 pictures to the child, at the speed of a picture per second. Building the child’s vocabulary using this method, we then reintroduce the very same pictures – which they’ve familiarized with -in varied contexts and perspectives, through maps, stories, read-aloud sessions etc. This way we convert information to knowledge, through association.

For example – the picture of a pineapple can be seen in contexts of shape, size, taste, climate, soil, hybrids, plantations, nutrition etc.

We then channelize this built up interest and knowledge of words, by following up with our reading, math and general knowledge programmes.

The Results -

Reading: They will be able to read simple English and Hindi stories by 4 or 4½ years of age. During which they will also learn to recognize all the states of India, the geography of the country, the continents, the different peoples of the world and a wide range of plant and animal species.

Math:They will learn simple arithmetic problem-solving and addition/subtraction by age 4. Extensive and methodical use of flash cards will help the child learn better, faster and with greater joy. By class 1, they will learn addition up to 100, subtraction, and multiplication tables up to the number nine.

Science:We introduce science as a fun subject to our children right from pre-school. We build an interest and curiosity for it, by conducting fun exercises like - showing whirlpools in a bucket, experiments on air and by introducing them to magnets, lenses and mirrors.

Such a strong foundation developed at an early age, gives our children a head-start in higher standards. It enables them to complete the entire syllabus in a much shorter time, without any kind of pressure. It also helps children get used to this method of learning, from their early years onwards and it helps them learn effortlessly, for the rest of their lives.

  Our Emotional Programme  

“Emotion is that which moves us to motion”

The happiest is one who is always learning, and our ED programme aims to ensure just that, within our students. With this program we weave entertaining activities like art, music, dance, craft, stories and drama into daily schedules, to balance out any draining of the self that physical or intellectual activities may cause.

During this program any kind of creativity is instantly recognized, appreciated and encouraged. Sketching, Painting, Embroidery, Writing stories, poems etc. anything goes. We ensure that everyone finds his/her niche and is appropriately helped in the pursuit of it.

  Our Spiritual Programme  

This is amply illustrated in the lives of accomplished people, and thus the mainstay of this program is the biographies of people such as Mahatma Gandhi and Abraham Lincoln, that we convert into human interest stories.

Our spiritual program aims at teaching children to be sensitive to others, their environment and to become respectful, contributing members of society.

When one’s physical, emotional and intellectual states harmonize, it results in spiritual growth. This is amply illustrated in the lives of accomplished people, and thus the mainstay of this program is the biographies of such people, that we convert into human interest stories. Important events from the lives of such personalities are then dramatized, so that the causes and results of those events are better understood. We also have discussions on desires, thoughts and circumstances that lead to the formation of the character of a person.
